MetLife has a launched its Chinese life assurance joint venture with Capital Airports Holding Company, Sino-U.S. MetLife Insurance Company, Ltd. The joint venture company has received regulatory approval from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission and will operate under the MetLife brand.

Headquartered in Beijing, Sino-U.S. MetLife will offer life insurance and savings products to individuals through a career agency distribution system and other distribution channels. Agents will provide customized products by working with clients to develop plans that will help them meet their goals for education funding, retirement and protection.

Internationally, MetLife’s strategy has been to develop a major presence in important emerging markets that are experiencing significant demand for insurance products. By growing its business through innovative products, services and distribution channels, MetLife International plans to reach 30 million customers by 2010.
