Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. names Hugh Sullivan as head of investment banking for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
He will be based in Frankfurt and London and will retain his existing responsibilities as global head of multi-industries.
Sullivan’s focus will be on increasing market share in the three countries, the bank says.
He will report to Andrea Orcel, global head of origination and president of global markets and investment Banking in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“(The) appointment underscores the importance that we attach to Germany and the region,” says Orcel.
Sullivan replaces Flavio Valeri, who Merrill says is leaving the firm to pursue a career opportunity in the Italian banking industry. Valeri joined Merrill in 2001 in equity capital markets, and was appointed to his German role in late 2006.
