Mercer Investment Consulting has named Cara Williams, as global chief operating officer. She succeeds Jim Hiner, who is retiring after a 20 year career with the firm.

Williams, who is based in London, joined Mercer Investment Consulting in 2005 as chief administrative officer, overseeing a number of global operations including finance, human resources, business operations for the Global Manager Research Group, and Mercer Global Investments’ global client relationships.

She has more than 11 years of experience in the pensions and investment industry, having joined Mercer from Merrill Lynch Investment Management in consultant relations in New York. From 2000 to 2002, she was with the French bank, CDC, in its investment management group where she was responsible for European sales. Prior to working in the investment industry, she was responsible for budgets and logistics for the US Army and Nato deployments.

Williams graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a BA degree, and from the University of Hartford, CT, with an MBA in Finance.
