Mellon Financial Corporation has announced the appointment of Brendan Leddy as Risk and Compliance Officer for Mellon Fund Administration (Dublin) Ltd in Ireland. He will be responsible for ensuring that Mellon maintains compliance with the regulation of the Central Bank of Ireland and other regulatory bodies. The creation of this role follows a period of strong performance and growth for Mellon in Ireland, including the launch by Mellon Global Investments of a new UCITS (Undertaking for Collective Investments and Transferable Securities) fund umbrella encompassing the migration of 13 funds from Jersey and the winning of the NTMA (National Treasury Management Agency) custody mandate by ABN AMRO Mellon.

Leddy’s role will include ensuring that increasingly stringent anti-money laundering and related anti-terrorist regulation is fully enforced.

Jack Klinck, Chairman of Mellon Europe, comments: “We are extremely pleased that Brendan Leddy is joining our team. He has valuable experience in risk assessment and will add significantly to our compliance function as we accelerate Mellon’s growth in Ireland”.

Leddy joins Mellon from Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup, where he was based in New York City as Assistant Vice President of US examinations. In that role, he was responsible for providing branches with legal consultation and Risk Assessment and Auditing activity, including Mutual Fund Administration. Prior to that, Leddy was an associate attorney in litigation, tax and accountancy, and real estate. Leddy holds a B.A. Honours Degree in English, Sociology and Political Science from University College Galway and an LLB Post-graduate law degree from the University of Wales.
