Meitan Tradition – part of Viel & CIE, an OTC broker – has gone live withvoice trading technology from Syntegra at its new Tokyo trading floor in Kamiyacho.
On the new trading floor, 55 derivative traders will be using Syntegra’s IP-ready ITS pV405Hi turrets and pVs42i open line speakers, providing audio, combined with a speaker muting service. The digital signal processing delivered by Syntegra’s MegaLink open-line module, gives echo cancellation on up to 24 simultaneous open-line channels, allowing brokers to be heard more easily on a busy trading floor. The new technology is supported by an ITS p51 telephony switch – capable of expansion to over 100 users – running on ITS Release 14. Syntegra’s technology replaces the Hitachi PBX-based turrets that Meitan Tradition has been using for the past eight years.
“The decision to move premises was driven initially by the need for more space as our broking operation has expanded. The move also provided us with the opportunity to re-assess our technology needs and prepare for the 21st Century,” says Timothy Lay, head of derivative trading Asia, at Meitan Tradition. “We underwent a rigorous selection process before deciding to opt for Syntegra. We were impressed with the functionality of their turrets, the superior audio quality of the open-line speakers and the ease by which we can further expand the voice trading requirements for our fast-moving trading floor if required.”
Mick Williams, Syntegra’s general manager for trading systems in Japan and Korea added: “The fact that Meitan Tradition has selected Syntegra, following closely on the recent upgrade announcement from Merrill Lynch Japan, indicates that the Japanese market is starting to pick up. Syntegra is well placed to help financial institutions in the region take full advantage of new market opportunities, by offering the latest in communication technologies to enable financial services firms to compete effectively.”
