In December trading on MEFF, BME’s Derivatives Market, came in at 8.9 million contracts, up 4% from a year earlier. Highlights include options on stocks, with 2.8 million contracts traded, up 67% from the same period a year earlier, and IBEX 35 options, with 882,955 contracts traded, up 37% from a year earlier.
The total trading volume recorded in 2008 reached a record high, at 83.4 million contracts, up 61% from 2007.
By product, it is worth mentioning the annual trading volume of futures on stocks, at 46.2 million contracts, up 117% from 2007, IBEX 35 options, up 46% from a year earlier, at 8.3 million contracts and options on stocks, up 35% from a year earlier, at 18.3 million contracts.
