Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Mark Davies as head of Intermediaries and Investors Sales for Europe.

Davies will be responsible for the sale of Securities Services and Cash Management within Standard Chartered Wholesale Banking’s Transaction Banking team.

Davies joins Standard Chartered from HSBC, where he spent over 30 years in a variety of roles, including, most recently, 10 years as head of Custody and Clearing for HSBC in Europe.

“Mark’s experience and standing in the industry will add to the strength of the senior team at Standard Chartered and I look forward to working with him to deliver Standard Chartered’s strategy to become Asia’s leading securities services provider,” says Neil Daswani, global head of Securities Services at Standard Chartered’s Wholesale Banking.

Davies is due to take up his new role in April 2008 and will be based in London, where he will work closely with new and existing clients to implement the bank’s strategic vision in the area of security services.
