Marin E. Gibson has joined SIA as assistant vice president/counsel, state government affairs. Previously deputy general counsel/acting general counsel of the Higher Education Services Corporation, Gibson, 35, will be responsible for regulatory and legislative issues at the state level.
A graduate of Rutgers University and the University of Buffalo School of Law, Gibson also served as a chief counsel in the New York State Senate, counsel to the Senate Committee on Consumer Protection, and bureau chief in the New York State Attorney General’s office. She reports to Keith Utsey, vice president, managing director/counsel, state government affairs.
“Marin’s experience in Albany will help us better serve the interests of our member-firms, especially those that are headquartered in New York, “said Utsey. “She brings to the job a thorough grasp of the political process and the procedures for navigating state regulatory agencies.”
In addition to monitoring legislative initiatives in the New York State legislature, Gibson will work with other members of SIA’s government affairs staff in promoting SIA’s agenda in state legislatures across the country.
