Independent fund administrator Maples Fund Services has hired Steve Lewis as director of European Business Development to lead the expansion of the firms fund administration and middle-office businesses across Europe.

Lewis joins from State Street, where he was vice president for Offshore and Alternative Investments, focusing on clients with hedge, private equity or property funds in multiple offshore domiciles, primarily in Luxembourg and Dublin, according to his profile on LinkedIn. He has worked in a variety of roles in sales and relationship management in custody, fund administration and other services at Investors Bank & Trust, SmartStream Technologies, Capco, ABN Amro, Deutsche Bank, The Bank of New York and other firms.

In Europe, Maples has offices in Dublin and Luxembourg. Lewis will work closely with Scott Somerville, CEO of Maples Fund Services parent company MaplesFS, and Toni Pinkerton, global head of Fund Services, as well as the regional heads of Fund Services in Dublin and Luxembourg.

We continue to see managers attracted to Dublin, Luxembourg and the broader European markets, Pinkerton says. Steve will be able to leverage his years of experience and existing relationships to further build our presence in Europe.

Lewis adds: I was very impressed with the management team, unique technology, and the focus on customized client services and solutions, which is very different than the ‘one size fits all’ mentality in the industry. The breadth and flexibility of Maples Fund Services is a clear strength, and makes the firm highly relevant to hedge funds, private equity, pension funds and family offices.
