Charles Jennings and Julian Reddyhough, managing partners at offshore legal firm Maples and Calder, have announced their retirement.

According to reports from The Lawyer, both were voted out during an internal conference last week.

Maples and Calder declined to comment on the matter.

There have been a number of changes as a result of the retirements. Henry Smith, based in the Cayman Islands office, has taken on the newly created role of global managing partner. In addition a new Global Management Committee has been created to oversee the co-ordination of the Maples Group and to continue to develop its global strategy. The committee will include the following members: Henry Smith, David Brooks, Gareth Griffiths, Christine Chang and Andrew Doyle.

David Brooks has also been appointed chairman of Maples Finance, the fiduciary and fund administration service provider, to help oversee global strategy. Maxine Rawlins will continue in her role as CEO of Maples Finance. Gareth Griffiths will be managing partner of the firm’s Cayman Islands office, and Christine Chang and Andrew Doyle will continue as managing partners of the law firm’s Hong Kong and Irish offices, respectively.

Charles Jennings said, I have been part of the management team at Maples and Calder for many years and am proud of what we have achieved. As I am close to retirement age, I feel that this is an appropriate time to step aside. My partners are close personal friends as well as colleagues and I have full confidence in their stewardship of the firm.”

Henry Smith said, “I am very honoured to have been elected as the firm’s Global Managing Partner. We have extremely strong teams throughout all our global offices, both in the law firm and in the fiduciary service and fund administration groups at Maples Finance, and we look forward to building on the platform they have helped create. We believe this structure is well aligned with our clients needs to pursue.
