Five south east Asian stock exchanges a planning a Top 100 Asian Index, for launch later this year, according to a Reuters report. The exchanges believe it will encourage equity investment and trading in the region.

The Reuters report quotes the President of the Jakarta Stock Exchange as saying that the plan involves the exchanges of Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines as well as Indonesia. The exchanges are also exploring cross-trading opportunities.
