BNP Paribas Securities Services has appointed Luis Coln as Deputy General Manager and Head of Clearing, Settlement and Custody (CSC) in Spain. He is based in Madrid and reports locally to Alvaro Camuas, Head of Location for BNP Paribas Securities Services in Spain and Jon Lloyd, Global Head of CSC Product.

Colin joins BNP Paribas Securities Services from Santander Central Hispano (SCH) Investment SA, where he was CEO of its Integrated Securities Services business, which focused on providing Outsourcing Services for Financial Intermediaries and Investment Funds. In addition, he was Managing Director of SCH’s Global Custody business. Prior to that, Colin was Senior Vice President of Information Technology at Banco Santander in New York from 1998 to 1999, where he was responsible for the functions of Systems Development, Infrastructure and Branch Operations.

“Luis’s broad experience and knowledge of all products within Securities Services will help to further strengthen our business,” says Camunas. “His appointment confirms BNP Paribas Securities Services’ commitment to the growth of our business in Spain, and the consolidation of our leadership position in the Spanish market.”

Jon Lloyd, Global Head of CSC Product, added that the bank was seeing a “significant amount of corporate activity initiated in the Spanish market with European-wide impacts. This will create product development opportunities across the spectrum of Securities Services that Luis and the team will be well positioned to leverage.”
