The London Stock Exchange will now charge for trades that come from its growing host of competitors by charging a fee of 1 basis point on any trade that arrives from an external trading venue, according to The Financial Times.

When the LSE first expressed interest in such a charge last month, Nasdaq OMX criticised the move as “anti-competitive” and “artificially controlling competition in order to maintain high prices”.
