The London Stock Exchange has unveiled an enhanced data offering, aimed at fund managers, wholesale brokers and private client brokers looking to upgrade from the Exchange’s entry-level data product.

The so-called Level 1 Plus service will provide market intelligence and insight into the market, in addition to the real-time data available through the Level 1 product. The Exchange says its development follows detailed consultation with customers, and has been designed to meet the demand for specific new data sets without having to upgrade to the Exchange’s more comprehensive Level 2 product.

Specifically Level 1 Plus offers:

Named Market Share data: Daily updates of the top five firms by dealing volume for each UK listed security including AIM and IOB securities.

Citywire content: BrainsTrust – Securities within the FTSE350 and UK Smaller Companies Index ranked according to the degree to which the top performing UK fund managers are over / underweight in these securities as compared with respective weightings within the relevant FTSE Index.

Fund Manager Performance data – Absolute and risk adjusted performance information on the top 15 performing fund managers in each of the 22 IMA sectors.

Argus Vickers Shareholder Information: The provision of the top 5 holders in each security, including fund manager name, percentage holding, number of shares held and previous number of shares held.

Risk and Performance Measures:

Daily update of alphas, betas and performance information at security level.

Continually updated information on the market capitalisation and P/E ratio of each security.

David Lester, Chief Information Officer at the London Stock Exchange, explained that research among the existing client base indicated demand for an increased level of market intelligence. “Level 1 Plus combines all of the functionality of Level 1, with an enhanced level of data that we know will help our customers with their trading and investment decisions,” he says.

The Exchange says Level 1 Plus will become available as vendors adapt their systems to offer the new product. The Exchange says it also expects to make further announcements about these developments shortly.
