Did you know the Estonian CSD was called Eesti Vrtpaberite Keskdepositoorium? If you did, forget it. If you did not, do not be ashamed. From today, it has changed its name to the much snappier Eesti Vaartpaberikeskus.

The local stock exchange (Tallinna Vrtpaberibrs, or Tallinn Stock Exchange) has caught the habit, changing its name to Tallinna Brs, which is very much to-the-point, but still sexy enough to sound as if it would translate into English as Tallulah Bankhead, the star of the silent screen.

In a separate development, Tallinna Bors (nee Tallinna Vrtpaberibrs) also announced today that it had implemented the HEX trading system developed by the Helsinki Stock Exchange. It was a bit late – the platform was originally scheduled for introduction on 28 January 2002 – but market participants said they wanted to test it for another month before going live.
