Lehman Brothers have named Paul G. Parker global co-head of Mergers & Acquisitions, joining Mark Shafir, who has also been named chairman of Global M&A.

Parker, formerly US head of M&A, and Shafir, who has run global M&A since 2003, will jointly run the business, reporting directly to Skip E. McGee III, global head of the Investment Banking Division.

Shafir and Parker have been instrumental in leading a number of high profile transactions in the past few years including Cingular Wireless’ acquisition of AT&T Wireless Services; the proposed management buyout of Cablevision Systems Corporation; the merger of Wellpoint Health Networks with Anthem, Inc.; Kmart Holdings’ merger with Sears Holdings; Chicago Mercantile Exchange Holdings, Inc.’s acquisition of CBOT Holdings, Inc. and Thermo Electron’s merger with Fisher Scientific.

“As our M&A business continues to grow and becomes increasingly global, it is appropriate that the organizational structure of the franchise expand as well. I am confident that the expertise, client focus and outstanding track record of Mark and Paul’s partnership will drive the continued success and accelerate the momentum of our business worldwide,” says McGee.
