Lehman Brothers, the global investment bank, says that Alan H. Dorsey has joined the Firm’s Investment Management Division as a managing director and co-head of portfolio strategy, with Aaron Gurwitz, for the Firm’s high net worth clients. He will also lead the division’s effort to manage portfolios for institutional clients with a focus on multiple asset classes and an emphasis on alternative investments.

Dorsey, who has more than two decades of experience in both investment management and investment consulting, comes to the Firm from CRA Rogers Casey, a leading consultant to pension funds and other institutional investors, where he was head of the alternative investment group. Previously, he was director of research for Bryant Park Capital and its affiliates and a securities analyst for Dillon Read & Company (later acquired by UBS Warburg). He began his career in 1984 as an analyst with Argus Research. Since 1997, he has served as a member of the investment committee for Wesleyan University, where he is a past trustee.

“Investors around the world are seeking trusted advisors who can offer value-creating answers encompassing both traditional and alternative investments,” says Alan Marantz, the global head of Private Investment Management. “Having Alan Dorsey aboard, with his deep experience in hedge funds and private equity, will help us provide our clients with these important and timely multi-asset-class capabilities.”

Separately, Alison Deans, who had been head of portfolio advisory, will be taking on a new role within Asset Management as director of investment policy, working with Jack Rivkin, chief investment officer of Neuberger Berman.
