Lehman Brothers has appointed Arun Murthy as managing director and head of Commodities Trading, Asia.
Murthy will report locally to Jai Rajpal, head of Fixed Income, Singapore and Southeast Asia, and globally to Satu Parikh, global co-head of Commodities, in New York.
Murthy joins Lehman Brothers from Goldman Sachs where, for the past 11 years, he traded a wide variety of commodities products. He was most recently head of Agriculture Trading for Asia and prior to that he was head of Crude and Naphtha Trading. He earlier spent three years at Singapore’s Defence Science Organisation as a defence scientist.
“Arun will be responsible for building our Asian Commodities trading platform from Singapore and developing our regional and global suite of products to service clients worldwide. Commodities trading is a key area of growth for the Firm and we are confident that Arun’s extensive experience will further broaden and deepen our existing product capabilities and client relationships,” says Rajpal.
