Distribution facilities provider ProLogis is developing a build-to-suit distribution facility in Suzhou, China, and has leased distribution space in Warsaw, Poland, for L’Oreal for a total of 329,540 square feet. L’Oreal, based in France, is the world’s largest cosmetics company.

L’Oreal China, Co., Ltd. will lease 173,074 square feet (16,079 m2) of space at ProLogis Park Suzhou, which is located in Suzhou Industrial Park in eastern Suzhou City, approximately 60 minutes northwest of Shanghai. Suzhou Industrial Park, a joint venture between the governments of China and Singapore has 100 square miles (260 km2) planned for multi-use development and is one of the top three fastest growing industrial zones in China. Other customers at ProLogis Park Suzhou include UPS, Nokia, Samsung and adidas. Completion of the L’Oreal facility is expected in the fourth quarter of 2005.

Andrzej Fronczak, operations and administration director for L’Oreal China, said, “ProLogis made it easy for us to lease space at the strategically located Suzhou Industrial Park. We appreciate the fact that working with ProLogis provides us with an ease and flexibility that’s extremely helpful in our international transactions.”

In Poland, L’Oreal Polska Sp. z o.o. will be expanding its lease by 70% to 156,465 square feet (14,536 m2) at ProLogis Park Blonie, which is located about 15 miles (25 km) west of Warsaw’s central business district. The location of the Park and its proximity to major highways allows for easy distribution throughout the Warsaw metropolitan area and across Poland. Other ProLogis customers at the Park include Bertelsmann, Antalis, Wincanton and WSiP.
