On 13 January 2009, Ministry of Finance Japan announced that Kuwait and Japan had reached a basic agreement on the Tax Treaty.
The details of the tax treaty are yet to be available. It will take several more months to validate the new tax treaty.
Japan’s Ministry of Finance publicized briefly the withholding tax rates applicable to dividends or interests.The new tax treaty will contribute to induce petro-money into the Tokyo market. But the details of the tax treaty are not available yet.
Kuwait has not entered into tax treaty with Japan so far.
