KPMG has appointed several new partners and managing directors in its Alternative Investment Funds practice as part of an initiative to grow in the sector.
Ted Carreiro joined KPMG in June as a federal tax partner in Boston. Most recently, he has focused on compliance with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). He is a former managing director of State Street Bank and Trusts AIF group.
Laura Thompson joins as a managing director in the International Tax Practice based in Boston. She focuses on the financial services industry, particularly asset management and fund families in Boston and New York. She joined KPMG from Bain Capital, where she was vice president of the General Partner group. She has also worked at the Wellington Management Company.
Angela Yu joins has been appointed as a partner in KPMGs U.S. Real Estate Tax Practice in New York. Previously, she was an international tax partner with KPMGs Washington National Tax Practice and Vancouver U.S. Tax Planning Practice.
Michael T. Richards joins as a partner to lead KPMGs Transaction Services Practice on the West Coast, focused on private equity clients. He has previously worked in M&A advisory services for private equity clients and worked as a principal at Fremont Partners, a San Francisco-based private equity firm.
Phillip W. DeSalvo becomes a senior manager for tax with experience working with private equity investment firms and their portfolio companies in connection with transaction investigation, structuring, execution, post-closing integration and other matters. Prior to joining KPMG, he was an M&A tax manager based in San Francisco.
