Mellon Financial Corporation has appointed Harley Murphy as the first country manager for Mellon in Ireland. Mellon says this new position has been created in response to the growth of its Irish fund administration, trustee and global custody businesses, which now administer funds of approximately US$20 billion and employ more than 60 people in Dublin.
Murphy returns to Mellon Ireland after two years co-ordinating Mellon’s businesses in Scotland and having overseen the implementation of Mellon European Fund Services’ UK Client Services Centre in Edinburgh. He takes up his new post on 1 July 2005 and will report to George McKay, executive director, business development, for Mellon European Fund Services in London.
“We are excited by the growth prospects for Mellon in Ireland and this new position signals our intent to continue to invest in our growth under Harley’s leadership,” says Jack Klinck, vice chairman of Mellon and president of Mellon Investment Manager Solutions, which includes the Irish businesses.
Reporting to Murphy will be John Maguire, who takes up the position of head of fund administration services in Dublin, and Anne King, managing director of Mellon Trustees (Dublin) Limited, who retains all her present responsibilities. Stuart Kent, who has been appointed Business Development Manager, will continue to manage client relationships for MFAD.
Kevin Potts has decided to leave the investment funds industry to pursue other career interests. He is resigning as managing director of Mellon Fund Administration (Dublin) Limited (MFAD) with effect from the end of June and will remain as a non-executive director of MFAD.
