JP Morgan says it is looking to hire up to 10 analysts in mainland China this year to assist its drive into the local capital markets. The bank is already moving researchers from Singapore and Hong Kong to Shanghai as a first step. The analysts being relocated to Shanghai will cover financial institutions, conglomerates, utilities and consumer companies. JP Morgan wants to have 10 to 15 analysts in the country by the end of 2004. It currently has more than 20 researchers covering Chinese companies from around Asia.
