Industry legend Jose Placido will join BNP Paribas Securities Services’ executive committee in April.
The appointment, effective April 22 2014, sees Placido relocating from Toronto to London and becoming global head of sales and relationship management with effect from January 2015.
Until then, Placido will co-head sales and relationship management with Charles Cock, the current head of client development, who will assume a new senior client executive role focused on key customer relationships. During the transition period, Placido will focus on strategic sales planning with the heads of the global client segments reporting to him.
Placido was previously CEO of RBC Investor Services, a position he held since 2006. He presided over and led the RBC Dexia Investor Services joint venture in 2006 and the subsequent sale by the Franco-Belgian bank of its 50% stake in the joint venture to RBC in 2012. Prior to this, he held key positions at RBC, including managing director of its U.K. office, becoming senior vice president of RBC Global Services in 2001 and executive vice president in 2003.
Placido will report to Patrick Colle, general manager.

Until then, Cock will co-head sales and relationship management activities with Placido, retaining direct responsibility for the client development teams across the bank’s 34 locations around the world.
Charles Cock joined the group in 1995 when Paribas bought the JP Morgan European clearing and custody network. He has been in charge of sales and relationship management ever since, playing an important role in the bank’s growth over the years.
