Mellon Financial has appointed Jon Little, chief executive of Mellon Global Investments (MGI), and Helena Morrissey, chief executive of Newton Investment Management, as co-chairs of Mellon Europe.
Jack Klinck, who has served as Mellon Europe chairman since Autumn 2001, will be repatriating to the US by the end of July after completing his nearly four-year assignment in London. Klinck, also a vice chairman of Mellon Financial Corporation, will continue in his role as president of Investment Manager Solutions (IMS) business of Mellon’s Asset Servicing sector.
Martin G McGuinn, chairman and chief executive of Mellon said, “The appointments of Helena and Jon are recognition of their leadership and successes in overseeing the building of Mellon’s asset management capabilities in Europe through MGI and Newton. Mellon continues to evolve and focus on investing in and growing our core businesses, which recorded revenue growth in Europe of almost 30% in 2004 and more than 20% in 2003. Europe represents a critical growth opportunity for Mellon, and jointly they bring excellent skills to our expansion goals in this region.”
As part of his responsibility for IMS, Klinck manages the Mellon European Fund Services and the Dublin asset servicing businesses, and will continue to spend significant time in Europe as he develops the IMS businesses globally. He will also remain on the board of ABN AMRO Mellon Global Securities Services B.V.
Morrissey will join Little on Mellon’s global Senior Management Committee, and both will report to McGuinn in their Mellon Europe roles and will continue to report directly to Mellon vice chairman Ron O’Hanley as leaders of their asset management businesses internationally.
