Jon Harvey, the former group financial crime director of Barclays Bank Plc, has joined Ernst & Young as Director in the Financial Services Financial Crime team.

Harvey worked at Barclays for five years and was responsible for leading key financial crime functions including anti-money laundering, fraud management, corporate security, and the financial crime intelligence unit.

In previous roles, he headed JP Morgan’s technology risk management and was also technical support manager for Greater Manchester Police.

“The battle against financial services crime is ongoing as culprits become increasingly sophisticated in targeting major financial institutions,” says Alan Pateman-Jones, the Managing Partner for Financial Services at Ernst & Young. “Ernst & Young’s new Financial Crime team brings together significant expertise from within the firm to help institutions to combat this type of crime.”

“Jon’s wealth of experience in the fight against financial crime complements and strengthens the skills of the Financial Crime team at Ernst & Young,” adds Sarah Evans, the head of the Financial Crime team at Ernst & Young. “I am delighted to welcome Jon to Ernst and Young and look forward to working with him, specifically as we work with firms in the strategic management of financial crime against a challenging legal and regulatory agenda.”

In addition to being a member of the International High Technology Crime Investigation Association, Harvey also holds a MSc in Information Security, a MSc in Management and Information Technology, and professional qualifications in security, audit, risk and change management.
