The Secretary of State has agreed to the re-appointment of John Scampion CBE as Chair of the Pensions Regulator’s Determinations Panel for a period of four years from 6 April 2009.

Scampion has served on the Determinations Panel as its Chair for four years.

John Scampion, CBE, is also the Chair of the Audit Committee of the Healthcare Commission and member of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeals Panel.

He was Commissioner for Immigration Services from 2000 to 2005; Social Fund Commissioner for Great Britain and Northern Ireland from 1995 to 2000; and the clerk and chief executive of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council from 1977 to 1995. John qualified as a solicitor in 1966.

“John has played a key role in the activities of the Determinations Panel over the last four years and we are delighted that he will continue to bring his independent judgement to the work of the Pensions Regulator,” says David Norgrove, pensions regulator chairman.

“The activities of the Determinations Panel are an important component of the Regulator’s overall role,” says Scampion. “As Chair of the Panel for the next four years I look forward to making a further contribution to these important decisions”.
