Jim Rogers Beeland Management Commodity Investment Firm Hires Robert Mercorella From Refco As COO

Robert Mercorella has joined Beeland Management Company LLC as chief operating officer, according to Jim Rogers, founder, majority owner and member of the firm.

Beeland Management is the general partner and commodity pool operator of the Rogers International Raw Materials Fund, LP, a public commodity pool registered under the Securities Act of 1933.

“Robert brings superb operational skills and a depth of expertise in all aspects of commodities, futures and derivative markets that will enable Beeland to increase its product and service offerings,” says Rogers. “We are poised for growth, and Robert will be instrumental in helping us forge creative new paths for expansion.”

Prior to joining Beeland, Mercorella served as senior vice president, director of global marketing and business development for Refco Group, the futures broker and futures commission merchant.

As chief operating officer of Beeland Management, Mercorella will coordinate and supervise the day-to-day operations of Beeland, including legal, accounting and administration functions. He is responsible for investor relationships and the administration and supervision of the investment vehicles that are based on the Rogers International Commodities Index.

At Refco, Mercorella developed and directed the companies’ global marketing and business development strategies. His responsibilities included “strategic” relationships, marketing and business and client development. He has extensive experience in the financial and futures industry and has held positions at both commodity trading advisors as well as traditional and alternative asset management companies.

Mercorella began his career practicing corporate and hedge fund law in New York. He earned his BA in economics from Colgate University, a DBS from The London School of Economics and JD from Fordham University School of Law.

Beeland Management Company manages investment products and accounts based upon the Rogers International Commodities Index (RICI). The RICI, created by Jim Rogers in 1998, tracks the consumption of 35 commodities worldwide.
