Jean-Claude Trichet, President of the European Central Bank, willreceive the Vision for Europe Award from the Edmond Israel Foundation inrecognition of his “outstanding contribution to the development of the European Future”.

Trichet will receive the award in Luxembourg, on 30 June 2008. Thelaudatio will be given by H.E. Jean-Claude Juncker, prime minister of Luxembourg.

Trichet is the tenth recipient of the award and the second President ofthe European Central Bank to receive it after Willem F. Duisenberg in 1999.

The first recipient of the award was Jacques Santer, then president of theEuropean Commission. Other recipients have been Angela Merkel, Javier Solana, Helmut Kohl, Guy Verhofstadt, Jean-Luc Dehaene, Jean-Claude Juncker, and rpd Gncz.

The event is organised by Clearstream International, the InternationalCentral Securities Depository member of Deutsche Boerse Group, and co-sponsored by Dexia/BIL. The ceremony is by invitation only.
