Japan’s Ministry of Finance have publicised the summarised contents of the basic agreement regarding the new tax treaty between France and Japan. The two countries reached the basic agreement in July 2006, but the MoF has never disclosed it.

“Among the issues announced, the withholding tax rates are to be revised as per the attached table,” says a spokesman for SMBC. “The withholding taxes for coupon payments payable to a limited type of investors of France are scheduled to be exempt.”
