Francis Jackson, Head of Investor Solutions at Citibank Global Securities Services, is leaving to join SEI Investments in London as director of business development. Rumours had circulated for some months that Jackson would leave the giant American bank, his position having come up for the usual triennial review, which can end in an unwelcome posting to New York City. Jackson will join SEI in September.

As a technology-driven fund administrator and manager-of-managers, SEI is certainly a departure for Jackson, who worked on the custody side at JP Morgan and Bankers Trust before joining Citibank three years ago. Though SEI has had a presence in Dublin for a decade or more, the Pennsylvania-based firm is now looking to expand its fund administration operations in Europe, with a particular focus on private banks, family offices and high net worth individuals.

Jackson is being hired in something of an entrepreneurial role. The SEI operation in London is non-existent on the administration side at the moment, but it has had a senior executive (Bob Aller) exploring opportunities for the last eighteen months. Having settled on the private wealth management sector, Jackson will be charged with starting the business from scratch, including location, technology, staff, and sales strategy.
