Investment Technology Group has made a number of appointments within its European business, including the hiring of a new head of information technology.
Michael Green joined ITG on 19th February as Head of Information Technology in Europe, where he will be leading a team of over 40 employees based in London and Dublin. Green will be a member of ITG’s European executive committee.
Green previously spent over nine years at Goldman Sachs the last two years as European IT manager of client and exchange connectivity, position keeping and trade capture. He was responsible for a team of 35 and was part of the senior management group for equities in Europe and global connectivity. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Michael spent four years at PriceWaterhouseCoopers as an IT consultant. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s in IT.
Green replaces Ronen Kertis, who will be relocating to Israel to become General Manager of the Tel Aviv office where the development of ITG’s European software is centred.
ITG has also hired Daniel Shaw, previously an executive director of Goldman Sachs within the REDI+ electronic transaction services division responsible for sales, direct market access and algorithmic trading. Shaw’s role is to create and head up an execution management function in Europe that services clients who self-direct their own business using ITG’s tools and services such as Triton and ITG Algorithms.
During his eight years at Goldman Sachs, Shaw held a number of roles primarily in the institutional equities trading business. He has a degree in mathematics and astrophysics. Shaw reports to Robert Boardman, head of algorithmic sales for ITG in Europe.
Other hires include Matthew Par, who joined on January 22, to spearhead sales of client site products such as ITG’S Triton Execution Management System (EMS). He joined from Royalblue Financial, where he was head of sales for the Fidessa EMS to the buy-side community. Par reports to Jamie White, head of ITG’s client site products in Europe. Prior to Fidessa, Par spent three years at Easybroker as head of product development and institutional sales, and before that was involved in business development for NASDAQ Europe.
“I am delighted that Michael, Dan and Matthew have joined ITG,” says David Stevens, CEO of ITG in Europe. “This year will be very important for us in terms of the introduction of new tools and services and we are confident that Michael’s wealth of transaction IT experience will be invaluable to us.”
“The appointment of Daniel follows the strategic decision to provide our users of client site products with a dedicated service function to better cater for their needs and Matthew has come on board to strengthen the expanded client site sales team. I welcome them to ITG.”
“ITG is the right company at the right time I am very excited by the opportunity to lead the technology team within a company that really understands and values this sector,” comments Green.
