The International Securities Lending Association has elected a new board of directors, with Northern Trusts Richard Thompson as chairman.
Thompson, who most recently served as deputy chairman of the ISLA board, succeeds former chairman James Templeman of BlackRock, who will remain on the board. Thompson is the senior vice president and head of securities lending product management at Northern Trust.
ISLA continues to play an important role for all participants in the securities lending markets [with] noted ongoing work to help educate investors and market professionals, develop best practices and work with regulators to achieve sensible regulation of this $2 trillion market.
Kevin McNulty, CEO of ISLA, says he is delighted to see such strong competition from members looking to be on the board. The new board includes four new members and represents a good mix of agent lenders and prime brokers.
Along with Thompson, Templeman and McNulty, the full board includes Andrew Jamieson, J.P. Morgan; Anthony Duggan, Goldman Sachs; Brian Staunton, Citibank; Keith Haberlin, Brown Brothers Harriman; Laura Allen, UBS; Martina Szameitat, Morgan Stanley; Mohamed Moursy, ABN Amro; Rob Coxon, BNY Mellon; and Tammy Phillips, Barclays Capital.
