IR Global has launched a service that it says will help listed companies manage their relationships with international institutional shareholders more effectively.

Companies that subscribe to the new service – which is called Talon – will enjoy online access to a global database of listed companies and funds, with search functions enabling them to pursue new investors.

The Talon database, which includes information from the LionShares database licensed from FactSet Research Systems Inc., is a collection of global equity ownership data from more than 4,000 institutions and 24,000 mutual fund portfolios.

IR Globa says Talon provides both summary and detailed ownership data and can be drilled down to individual fund manager contact details. It says existing products in the market are aimed at financial institutions rather than listed companies, and are priced accordingly. IR Global aims to provide companies with “affordable access” to this valuable information.

IR Global was founded in late 2003 by a group of former investment bankers and market data professionals with experience of banks and data vendors. The company aims to assist companies in the field of investor relations.

“Companies know they need to reach out to shareholders more pro-actively than ever before”, says IR Global Managing Director Mark Street. “But they have been held back by a lack of information. Talon puts that information – and that means real power – at their fingertips.”
