The JASDEC and Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA) have said that some invalid stocks of KEIYO BANK LTD (TSE Code 8544, ISIN JP3281600001) are circulating in the market, say the Sumitomo Mitui Banking Corporation.

According to JASDEC and JSDA, the name registrar for KEIYO BANK was recently requested to scrutinize some stock certificates of the issue and found that the certificates were invalid. In 1999, some stock certificates of the issue were stolen at a printing company. The invalid certificates have turned out to be amongst the stolen certificates.

“Please note that the stocks of KEIYO BANK held with SMBC for its customers are not invalid,” says a spokeswoman for the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. “When we receive some stocks of the issue in the book-entry transfer manner within JASDEC, there should be no problem. When we accept the deposit of physical stock certificates of the issue, however, we need to be cautious on the occasion.”
