Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc., added Independence Group NL in Australia as the latest member of its International Shareholder Communications Programme.

Under the new service agreement, Independence Group will use Broadridge’s programme to distribute its general meeting information, corporate news and investor relations (IR) materials to its Australian and non-Australian shareholders electronically and on a timely basis. The company will also monitor the collection and execution of voting instructions completed through Broadridge’s proprietary voting platform, the ProxyEdge products.

ProxyEdge is used by more than 3,300 institutions and high-net-worth investors located in more than 50 countries. ProxyEdge users’ account details and share positions are updated daily by brokerage firms and custodians linked to Broadridge. The International Shareholder Communications Programme is utilised by issuing companies in a multitude of countries.

Independence Group is in the nickel mining and gold and base metals exploration business. The company is focused on the discovery of large, high-grade gold and nickel deposits. In 2002, the company acquired the Long Nickel Mine and became a nickel producer. The company also has a 30% interest in the Tropicana Gold Project.

“We joined the International Shareholder Communications Programme in order to provide our shareholders with the means to contribute to the decisions made by our company,” says Kelly Ross, executive director/company secretary, Independence Group NL. “We also hope to promote our corporate image and increase the general level of participation at our shareholders’ meetings.”
