OneChicago, LLC has hit a new monthly volume record of 399,358 security futures contracts in seven trading days, exceeding the old record of 375,463 contracts traded in March 2004. Open interest also hit a new high of 493,898 as of March 9.

“This volume record is particularly gratifying because most of the trading is coming from new customers, not just from the spike in volume that we typically enjoy at the quarterly roll,” Marty Doyle, president of OneChicago, said. “I am thrilled that more institutional firms are now using our products, and we expect the trend to continue as more traders come to understand how single stock futures can be used for their portfolio needs.”

Each single stock futures contract is equivalent to 100 shares of the underlying stock or exchange-traded fund. OneChicago Exchange lists 136 single stock futures, including futures on the DIAMONDS Trust.
