The International Capital Market Association (ICMA) today released figures on new international bond market issues for the first half of 2007, showing that the total value of new issuance in this period was over $1,814 billion. This figure shows a 13 percent increase in the value of new issuance compared with the figure for the first half of 2006.

The value of new issuance in the second quarter of 2007 was slightly down on the figure for the three months to the end of March, falling by 6 percent from US$ 937 billion to US$ 877 billion.

The figures include internationally issued debt with a life greater than one year, domestic debt is excluded.

Total market size in terms of outstanding international bonds, stands at US$ 11,358 billion (over US$ 11 trillion) as at June 30, 2007.
