IntercontinentalExchange, an electronic futures and OTC marketplace for trading energy commodity contracts, plans for its regulated futures subsidiary, ICE Futures, to launch its West Texas Intermediate (WTI) Crude futures contract on Friday, February 3, 2006.
“We are pleased to be able to offer this global crude oil contract alongside our existing suite of energy futures and options to market participants in 37 jurisdictions around the world, including the US,” said David Peniket, president of ICE Futures. “With the transparency and access our electronically traded Brent crude futures contract has provided, we believe that the addition of electronically traded WTI futures is a key real-time risk management tool.”
