ICAP plc has appointed Herv Geny as global head of risk, reporting to Mark Yallop, ICAP’s group chief operating officer. Geny will be responsible for extending ICAP’s risk management framework throughout the group and will begin his new role today.

Geny was previously head of the global risk management specialists group at Moody’s Investor Services in New York. Prior to joining Moody’s, he was a director of corporate finance for Merrill Lynch & Co.

“Herv Geny brings substantial industry experience and global operating knowledge to this vital role,” Yallop said. “We are delighted to appoint an individual of his caliber and expertise to this position. Given our leading position in the wholesale inter dealer broking markets we take the management of all forms of risk very seriously. Herv will enable us to develop our risk oversight and control processes, in which we have already invested considerable effort, to an even higher level.”

Phil Moyse, who has combined the role of ICAP’s chief risk officer with his other duties, will remain with the group as a consultant for a further 18 months.
