The Liberty Ermitage Group has named Ian Cadby Chief Investment Officer and Mark Hucker Chief Operating Officer.
Ian Cadbyjoined the Group 3 years ago as the Group Executive in charge of Strategic Investments, embracing the Group’s single manager programme. He previously spent 18 years in the equity derivative and hedge fund industry. As a senior equity warrant trader Cadby helped co-found Cresvale International Asset Management Limited in 1990, an Asian equity hedge fund business, headquartered in London. Within two years the business grew swiftly to US$ 400 million and in 1993 he was posted to Hong Kong as Managing Director of Cresvale’s Asset Management business in the region. He remained in Asia for seven years where he also worked for Citibank as Vice President in their structured derivatives business and finally at Regent Pacific Group in Hong Kong, where he was head of hedge fund trading. Whilst at Regent, one of the funds he managed, ‘Discover Asia’, gained the Lipper Award for ‘Best performing Asian Equity Fund’.
After leaving Asia, he co-founded an Asian hedge fund business with Jonathan Wauton and the Cadby Wauton Asia Fund was one of the best performing funds in its sector for the year 2000. At Liberty Ermitage, he and Jonathan Wauton were have been responsible for the launch of the Strategic Partners Fund, a private equity approach to seeding hedge fund managers, predominantly in Europe. Cadbny and his team have also been responsible for the launch of the Liberty Ermitage Global Strategiesy Fund (a $160M Mutlti-Strategy FOF). Cadby is a Member of The Securities Industry and has a Science Degree from Coventry University.
Mark Hucker joined the Group two years ago from Perpetual Fund Management Offshore where he was Deputy CEO and responsible for the Jersey fund management operations. Since joining the Liberty Ermitage Group he has been Group Executive – Infrastructure and his new title reflects his increasing responsibilities embracing Finance, Compliance, Regulatory oversight, Luxembourg based Fund Administration operations and Business Risk Management. Hucker qualified as a CA with Deloitte Touche in 1995 and progressed to the position of Senior Audit Manager within two years before leaving the firm to take on the role at Perpetual. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has a degree in English and French from Oxford Brooks.
