The Budapest Stock Exchange has met with local regulators (the PSZF), the Ministry of Finance and the local custodian banks and brokerage companies to discuss the current status of securities lending in Hungary, with a view to reviving a moribund marketplace.

According to an ING spokeswoman in Budapest, the BSE is planning further meetings with the PSZAF and the Ministry of Finance in order to discuss potentially helpful amendments to local laws and regulations governing pension funds, which are currently prohibited from lending or borrowing securities.
