HSBC has made three appointments in its Custody and Clearing operation in Latin America.
John Brophy has been appointed Network Manager, Latin America, Roberto Cortese has been appointed Custody and Clearing Product and Relationship Manager, Brazil, and Nelson Pereira has been appointed Head of Custody and Clearing Operations, Brazil.
John Brophy has been appointed Network Manager for the Latin America region, incorporating Argentina, Brazil and Mexico as well as Bermuda. Previously with Citibank, John has held a variety of positions in the custody industry over the past 10 years in the United States and Mexico, managing market information, pricing, product development, branch management, and market lobbying. Based in New York, John will draw upon this extensive experience to manage the network operation and product development in Latin America.
In Brazil, Roberto Cortese has been appointed Custody and Clearing Product and Relationship Manager. Roberto will be responsible for the ongoing development of the HSBC sub-custody product in Brazil including the expansion of product features, enhancing client delivery as well as building on the close relationship that HSBC has with regulators and market players. Previously with Citibank, Roberto has over eight years’ experience managing custody and clearing relationships with Global Custodians and Broker Dealers.
Previously with Custody and Clearing’s Product team, Nelson Pereira has been appointed Head of Custody and Clearing Operations. Nelson brings extensive experience in the securities services industry and a strong background in IT, and the combination of these will drive HSBC’s goal of being the confirmed service and technology leader in sub-custody services in Brazil. In partnership with Roberto Cortese, Nelson will ensure that the operations model is designed to leverage the highest market standards, drawing also from HSBC’s extensive experience across the other 33 markets in the Custody and Clearing network.
