HSBC Bank has appointed Enos Banda head of Corporate and Investment Banking for Sub-Saharan Africa, based in Johannesburg.

Banda’s career to date has spanned banking, business and the legal profession. Most recently, he has served as CEO of First Africa Group, a pan-African advisory and investment management business. He also served as chief executive of Eskom Enterprises, South Africa’s primary electricity generator and as country manager for CSFB in South Africa.

He has also held senior positions on numerous government bodies in South Africa, including chairman of the National Electricity Regulator and chairman of the Municipal Infrastructure Fund, as well as serving on policy-making bodies within the National Treasury. He has received many academic and professional honours both in the United States, where he was admitted as an attorney at law in the State of New York, and in South Africa where he is an advocate of the Supreme Court.

“We are delighted Enos has joined HSBC and the broad range of his experience and expertise will undoubtedly benefit our clients in the region,” Richard Adcock, CEO and Group Country manager, Sub-Saharan Africa, said.
