HSBC Announces New Global Head Of Guarantees

HSBC has appointed Amita Jhangiani as the Global Head of Guarantees, Trade and Supply Chain, HSBC.

Amita will be responsible for driving HSBC’s Trade and Supply Chain guarantees proposition globally, and leading a team of specialists to develop key trade and supply chain product strategies going forward.

“We are delighted to welcome Amita to HSBC. Her 20 years of banking experience and expertise and keen understanding of trade finance strengthen our Trade and Supply Chain team as we seek to develop and grow our guarantees business,” says Lawrence Webb, head of trade and supply chain, HSBC.

Amita joins HSBC from Citigroup where she was a Managing Director responsible for trade services and finance across 17 territories in Asia Pacific, serving global multinational companies, Asian corporates, SMEs and financial institutions. Her extensive career in trade and supply chain finance also includes executive roles with Deutsche Bank and Chase Manhattan Bank where she led their Asia Pacific Trade Finance businesses.

She has Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Psychology degrees from the University of Bombay, India, as well as a Master of Law from Yale University, USA. In addition, Amita is a member of the New York Law association and the India (Mumbai) Bar Association.

Amita will be based in HSBC’s Global Trade and Supply Chain headquarters Hong Kong.
