Headhunters Glocap Search and hedge fund consultants TASS Research last week published the Hedge Fund Compensation Report, an analysis of the factors driving the compensation of people working at US hedge funds.

They say the 2004 Report includes a more detailed view of compensation levels than the 2003 equivalent, and looks at a broader group of people. In addition to analyzing compensation for Investment Professionals and Traders, this year sees Administrative & Executive Assistants, CFOs & Controllers, Information Technology Professionals and Marketing Professionals added to the mix.

The Report examines data on salaries and bonuses paid, and correlates the information to characteristics such as years of relevant experience, firm size and performance. “Wile finding candidates with the right skills, backgrounds and personalities for each of our clients is paramount, I am continually amazed at how essential the right compensation package is,” says Landon Spitalnik, Vice President of Glocap Search. “Everyone knows what their friends in the industry are making and expects to keep up. A job at another fund often simply means a walk down the hall, so funds need to all they can to keep their quality people compensated appropriately.”

The data for the analysis was compiled from actual placement and candidate data maintained by Glocap Search. This information was then combined with market data obtained by TASS Research from participating hedge funds to provide readers with a statistical analysis.

“Hedge funds have evolved into a mainstream, $870 billion industry,” says Stephen Jupp, Director of Quantitative Research, TASS Research. “We are delighted to participate in the Hedge Fund Compensation Report and to provide important data that tracks various aspects of industry growth and helps professionals assess compensation structures in relation to the strategic development of their organizations.”
