Guy Schuermans will become Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Euroclear Nederland, and Chairman of its management team, effective 1 March 2005. Peter Sneyers, who is currently fulfilling these roles, will transfer to Euroclear Bank in Brussels to head up the firm’s Corporate Actions and Tax service area.

Schuermans began his Euroclear career in 1986 and has held progressively senior positions in financial, marketing, client service and human resources. In 1996 he became a member of the Euroclear management team and in 2001 was appointed Managing Director.

“I welcome the opportunity to join an already strong team at Euroclear Nederland and to further the work that Peter Sneyers has undertaken over the past three years,” says Schuermans. “As one of my top priorities, I aim to further improve the high-quality services delivered by Euroclear Nederland to the Dutch and international capital markets to ensure that the operational needs of our clients are fulfilled in the best possible manner. With nearly 20 years of experience at Euroclear, I look forward to leveraging more of the benefits of the Euroclear group to Euroclear Nederland’s clients and staff.”

Euroclear Nederland is the central securities depository of the Netherlands.
