The government of Ghana has listed two and three year medium-term bonds on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE). A total of about 60 bonds, worth 2,456 billion was listed on the GSE on the 17 October 2006. This represents all bonds issued between January 2006 and August 2006. All subsequent bonds issued will be listed.
“This initiative is expected to boost the secondary market for bonds and thus develop appropriate structures and rules to govern the transactions and trading of the medium term bonds,” says a spokesman for Standard Bank.
