Microsoft has appointed Gordon Ejsmond-Frey as Insurance Industry Specialist, Microsoft EMEA Financial Services. In this new role, he will be responsible for defining and articulating Microsoft’s strategy for the insurance industry across EMEA.

Ejsmond-Frey joins Microsoft from Misys, where he was Director for Multi Channel Solutions. During this time he was responsible for wireless and Internet based solutions, where he gained an understanding of collaborative solutions, driving partnerships with SWIFT, strategic System Integrators and leading global finance customers.

His previous roles include that of managing a team of 35 consultants in the Business Technology Office of McKinsey, where he specialised in strategic IT advice and solution implementation for a range of blue chip insurance and retail banking clients. Prior to that, Ejsmond-Frey worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he led the insurance and asset management IT consulting practice, working for a range of European clients.

“We are delighted that Gordon has joined our team,” says Paul Shetler, Director of Financial Services, Microsoft EMEA. “With the insurance industry currently in a state of extreme fragmentation, Gordon has been brought on board to assist our insurance customers in using technology to connect the insurance value chain and move to a new collaborative business model. Ultimately, this will result in the improved customer service and faster response times, whilst driving down the costs incurred by the industry.”
