Goldman Sachs has appointed Bob Zoellick, former president of the World Bank Group, as chairman of Goldman Sachs’ international advisors.
Before his 2007-2012 term at the World Bank Group, Zoellick held the role of vice chairman, international, at Goldman Sachs. In this new role based in Washington, D.C., Zoellick will advise the firm and its clients on global strategic issues and lead the company’s 16 international advisors.
“Bob Zoellick has extraordinary knowledge of the global economy and has devoted himself to helping emerging economies realize more of their potential,” says Lloyd Blankfein, chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs. “His experience and judgment will be important to our clients and to our focus on helping them identify growth opportunities around the world.”
In addition to his position at Goldman Sachs, Zoellick recently joined the board of Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund and the U.S. Congress’ National Endowment for Democracy. He also serves on the international advisory board for Rolls-Royce, and he has held several political appointee positions under the Reagan and both Bush administrations such as deputy chief of staff and deputy secretary of state.
